This egregious regulation on our farming community subjects our producers to mountains of paperwork, bureaucratic red tape, and costly expenses. CHATTING WITH CHIP FLORY ON AGRITALK The other day, I joined Chip Flory on AgriTalk to discuss the status of the Farm Bill, bird flu impacting Iowa, and my letter with over 150 of my colleagues urging the Biden administration to overturn its EV mandate on trucks, tractors, and semis. More housing will help keep our communities strong and lower costs for families. RIBBON CUTTING CEREMONY FOR THE NEW FAREWAY IN HULL This week, my Agriculture and Manufacturing Liaison — Wes — spoke on my behalf at the ribbon cutting ceremony for the new Fareway in Hull. This is a great addition to our community that will grow our economy and give families another local option to shop for groceries. GIVING OUR TROOPS A WELL-DESERVED PAY RAISE Our troops — who sacrifice so much for our communities and nation — deserve the very best that our country can offer. They are heroes who have selflessly answered the call to protect our interests at home and abroad and defend our communities from evil forces across the globe. While America’s servicemembers make real sacrifices to serve our country, their current pay does not reflect this sacrifice. That’s why I voted in strong support of the FY 2025 National Defense Authorization Act, which would increase pay for junior enlisted members by 19.5% and all other troops by 4.5%. MEETING WITH THE IOWA SOYBEAN ASSOCIATION On Wednesday morning, my Legislative Assistant — Josh — met with the Iowa Soybean Association to talk about the Farm Bill, new export markets for Iowa soybeans, and the importance of homegrown biofuels to our economy. I’ll always be a strong supporter of Iowa soybean farmers! WE MUST REAUTHORIZE AND IMPROVE THE TAX CUTS AND JOBS ACT If we fail to reauthorize and improve the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, our families, farmers, and businesses will face roughly $7 trillion in tax hikes. To strengthen our economy and lower costs for our families, we can’t let that happen. That's why I'm working on the House Ways and Means Committee to reform our tax code and have supported legislation to make the enhanced standard deduction permanent and the 20% tax cut for our small businesses permanent. STRONG HOSPITALS ARE A VITAL COMPONENT OF A STRONG HEALTHCARE SYSTEM I introduced the Rural Hospital Stabilization Act — which passed the Ways and Means Committee — to provide our hospitals with the support and resources they need to keep our communities healthy. Strong hospitals are a vital component of a strong healthcare system. Feenstra-Led Bills, One to Keep Rural Hospitals Open,... I'm glad to report that this request was approved. We must ensure that families impacted by flooding have a roof over their heads as we rebuild. 4TH DISTRICT FUN FACT: TOP CORN-PRODUCING DISTRICT IN THE NATION!
