Axios quotes a Teamster who signed our petition (one of thousands of PCCC members like you!) urging Teamsters President Sean O’Brien to NOT stay neutral in 2024 unless Trump and Republicans publicly match the Democratic Party's pro-worker agenda.
This comes after O'Brien gave a vibrant, pro-worker speech this week – at the Republican Convention, in front of Trump and congressional Republicans who consistently oppose pro-worker policies.
AXIOS: "'I think workers ultimately lose out if Republicans win this year, and that [O'Brien] would go down in history being in some way associated with that – it's horrifying,' says Matthew Hoffman, a Teamsters member who works as a school office manager in Los Angeles and signed on to a petition protesting O'Brien's affiliation with the Republican party."

Let’s be clear: Republicans – including fake populists like J.D. Vance – are trying to misinform voters in 2024 so they vote for Trump. While we have no objection to Sean O’Brien speaking at the convention, it hurts workers to pretend both parties are the same.
For decades, the Republican Party has opposed pro-union legislation, opposed higher wages and workplace safety, and supported cuts to Social Security. Trump’s Project 2025 agenda would ban some unions and strip rights from others. 50,000 civil servants could be fired and replaced by political Trump lackeys – a hostile takeover of the government.
Meanwhile, President Biden and Democrats saved 325,000 Teamster pensions with the American Rescue Plan, which every Republican opposed. Democrats during the Biden years have had the strongest pro-union record in generations – according to the AFL-CIO and Bernie.
We’ve never petitioned a major union before, but the stakes are too huge to be silent: Tell Teamsters President Sean O’Brien it is misinformation to stay neutral in 2024 if Donald Trump and Republicans won’t publicly match the Democratic Party’s strong pro-worker agenda – especially after Republicans have spent decades undermining workers and unions.
