Legislative Update – July 19, 2024

Dear Neighbors,

This newsletter will be my last e-update until after the election. During an election period, legislators cannot use state resources for unsolicited communications because it might create an unfair advantage. You can still stay up to date with my legislative work by following my official State Representative Facebook page:  [link removed]

Even though my communications will be limited, I am still available to help with state-level problems, answer your questions, and discuss important issues in our community. So please don’t hesitate to reach out at [email protected] if I can assist you in any way.

Community Events

I’ll also continue to promote local community events throughout the summer and fall using my official State Representative Facebook page, and I hope to see you as I’m out and about in our district.

I’m looking forward to visiting block parties and gatherings around our district during the Annual South St. Paul Night to Unite on Tuesday, August 6th. The City of South St. Paul has various resources for Night to Unite, including for registering your neighborhood, scheduling barricades, requesting police and fire visits, and more. Night to Unite registration forms are available on the City’s website at [link removed]. You can also find information from the Washington County Sheriff's Office [ [link removed] ], City of Newport [ [link removed] ], City of Inver Grove Heights [ [link removed] ], and City of Cottage Grove [ [link removed] ] at the links provided.

South St. Paul Library Update

This year, I voted in favor of our Workforce and Economic Development bill, which included a provision I carried investing $175,000 for the City of South St. Paul to study repurposing the American Legion Memorial Library and ensuring it continues to be a community space that benefits our area.

I continue to be in contact with city staff as it looks at the best way to utilize the former Library building. The city recently closed its request for proposals for the space, and you can follow along for updates here: Library Adaptive Reuse Request for Proposals. [ [link removed] ]
