Dear John,
When I finished my pediatric surgery fellowship training 23 years ago and headed directly to Children's Hospital Los Angeles, I could never have known what would await me and my colleagues these last couple of months with the COVID-19 pandemic.
We've left no stone unturned at CHLA in our response to the situation—from reviewing and revising our policies and procedures, to rolling out drive-through testing off-site and managing personal protective equipment (PPE), to constantly monitoring new data to inform our response. All this to keep our patients, families and team members safe and provide the care they often desperately need. In an emergency like this one, we must continually reevaluate everything we do.
It's an enormous undertaking that will continue on for as long as this emergency lasts. Your support today can help us meet this challenge.
Right now, an anonymous generous donor will match your donation to our COVID-19 Emergency Response Fund, making it go TWICE as far to protect our vulnerable patients. If you're able, please make an emergency gift of $10 or more to help reach our $75,000 goal by our deadline on Thursday.
Dr. Stein, right, in CHLA's COVID-19 Command Center
I've seen and have been a part of incredible things in my time at CHLA—from participating in complex cancer surgeries to separating conjoined twins. But nothing compares to my role as Chief Medical Officer, which allows me to ensure that we provide the best care across all of our specialties to all of our patients. It's a great way to have an enormous impact on the lives of so many during this uncertain time.
These are frightening times for many of our team members and families. Supporting them by making sure that we have the screening, testing and equipment to keep them and their loved ones safe is more important than ever.
You can also have a bigger impact on our patients, their families and our medical team right now. Please, make a gift today that will go 2X as far to meet the increased need during this pandemic.
The world we live in has changed. Normalcy is likely far off—and our new normal may look quite different than what we were used to before the pandemic.
But every day, I'm inspired to keep going by what I see in my colleagues, the families who entrust their children to us, our patients—and you.
Thank you for your commitment to making our work possible.
Sincerely,
|
