Nick has been a public servant for most of his career. He served as a JAG Corps Attorney in the U.S. Army, as general counsel to Gov. Jay Inslee, and was appointed as the U.S. Attorney for Western Washington by President Biden.

Now, he’s running to build a safer Washington for everyone as Attorney General.

Nick believes every Washingtonian has the right to be safe, no matter their age, race, gender, who they love, or where they live. He’s a proud Washingtonian through and through — he was raised in Pierce County, is a product of our public schools, and grew up with a deep appreciation of the stunning nature here in the Pacific Northwest.

In 2021 President Biden appointed Nick as the first Black U.S. Attorney in state history. There Nick prioritized addressing the fentanyl crisis, protecting consumers, cracking down on sex trafficking, and combating violent crime and hate crimes. As Attorney General, Nick will work to keep all Washingtonians safe ­– from crime, gun violence, discrimination, and the growing housing crisis.

Furthermore, Nick is extremely well-prepared to protect our democracy from anti-democratic extremists like Donald Trump. Nick knows Trump poses an unprecedented threat to our country and will fight to protect our state from attacks on civil liberties, including abortion access and voting rights.

As general counsel to Governor Inslee, Nick saw firsthand the impact of the early days of Trump’s presidency, and he worked with Attorney General Ferguson’s office to coordinate the administration’s response to Trump’s hateful Muslim ban. Nick will be aggressive in protecting Washington against Trump or anyone who tries to take away our rights.
