This week, Human Services Commissioner Sarah Adelman and Community Affairs Commissioner Jacquelyn A. Suárez unveiled a new initiative that invites developers to submit applications for funding aimed at creating affordable housing options for members of NJ FamilyCare [[link removed]] .

Through the Healthy Homes partnership, a substantial $95 million fund has been allocated to facilitate the construction of approximately 200 low-rent housing units. These units will be specifically dedicated to providing accommodation for NJ FamilyCare members who are currently experiencing homelessness, at risk of homelessness, or residing in institutional settings. It is important to note that NJ FamilyCare is the Medicaid program of New Jersey.

“Access to safe, stable, and affordable housing is a necessity that New Jerseyans deserve to see fulfilled, and it directly impacts an individual’s overall health and wellness,” Governor Phil Murphy said . “By making $95 million available through the Healthy Homes Initiative, we are building on the life-changing benefits made available to New Jersey families through NJ FamilyCare and taking decisive steps to bolster health and housing equity. I commend Commissioners Adelman and Suárez for their leadership on this issue and look forward to seeing the impact of this program.”

The U.S. Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg unveiled $5 billion in grants for Large Bridge Projects under the Federal Highway Administration's competitive Bridge Investment Program, aligning with President Biden’s Investing in America initiative.

“Bottom line is that America’s infrastructure is finally getting better rather than worse...And my greatest message about all of these projects — the 57,000 projects and counting that are getting support through the President’s leadership and through this legislation — is that not a single one of them was invented, developed, or designed at the U.S. Department of Transportation Headquarters in Navy Yard in Washington D.C. Every one of them came from a community, a county, a state looking for a better design” said Secretary Pete Buttigieg .
