John, at the start of the Republican National Convention, we asked you if you approved of NRA-backed politicians. But now that those candidates have taken the stage and the convention is over, I thought it was important that we follow up. |

Just days after a gunman armed with an AR-15 attempted to assassinate Donald Trump, the NRA's endorsed politicians still refuse to do the right thing and add their voices to call for common-sense, life-saving gun safety reforms that could have prevented last Saturday's shooting.
Instead, politicians like J.D. Vance continued to peddle extreme pro-gun rhetoric. In his speech at the RNC, Vance told a story of discovering 19 loaded guns his Mamaw kept stashed around the house — John, this story isn’t quaint, and it isn’t about the “American Spirit.”
We know what happens when loaded weapons are left unsecured around the house: Accidental deaths. Suicides. School shootings. Suggesting otherwise is downright dangerous. |
||
This week reinforced what I already know to be true: That we must get the gun lobby OUT of Washington if we are to win meaningful change and finally end the gun violence epidemic. |

Thank you for taking action with us, John. |
