Hi John,
I grew up in a time when protecting the environment was recognized as a responsible, bipartisan goal for our government. But President Trump poses a greater threat to our environment than any president in American history.
He has pulled the U.S. out of the Paris Climate Agreement, and advocated for building dangerous oil pipelines, staffed the Environmental Protection Agency and Interior Department with industry lobbyists, slashed funding for the EPA and other environmental programs, and continuously denied the existence of global warming.
As a long-time advocate for a greener future, I know that we can do better -- and I know that as long as Donald Trump is in the White House, we’ll have to fight for it.
Today is Earth Day’s 50th anniversary, and this year’s theme is climate action. And although we cannot gather in our communities to do good for our planet today, we can still plan for the generations to come and take action to fight for our future.
This November will be the most important election of our lifetime, and we must elect a president who believes in scientists and listens to facts. We have the chance to get our country back on track, but we need every person who understands that we must take immediate action to mitigate the climate crisis to vote.
That’s why today I am asking you to request your mail-in ballot now to ensure you can vote in this year’s elections without compromising your health and safety.
Thank you for being an advocate for a cleaner, greener planet.
