Dear John,
We know you don’t need us to remind you of the stakes and potential outcome of this upcoming November election. Regardless of the result, we need to make sure that we elect lawmakers that prioritize a climate safe, just, and healthy future for Oregon. With the potential rough water ahead, we need all the support we can get to ensure smooth sailing into November and beyond!
During this month’s Sustainer Drive, OLCV’s goal is to obtain 50 new monthly donors (at any amount) who will help us fight for Oregon’s future this November.
By joining OLCV’s Sustainer Circle, you are investing in a healthy and equitable climate future, and you will receive exclusive benefits just for sustaining donors. Monthly donors are crucial for us to make the best use of our donations this upcoming election, but there are many reasons our members commit to giving monthly.
Let’s hear directly from Donna Maebori, a member of the Sustainer Circle since 2021, about why she supports OLCV:
Since the 1990s I had become politically active every now and then, mainly attending rallies and marches. In 2004 I learned, somehow, about canvassing for John Kerry for president and went to my first-ever campaign experience, which was followed by several more times of door knocking. The people managing it were really friendly and efficient. Over time I learned they were from OLCV. In 2016 after a certain election, I knew I wanted to be consistently active politically. Thinking back to my experience with OLCV, remembering it was good, I volunteered and have been on the Washington County Leadership Team ever since. Without a single exception, OLCV’s friendliness and efficiency is always present. OLCV is organized, effective, clear on its goals and purpose with good hearted people doing the work. Generally, the League is considered the political arm of the environmental movement. With government policy able to produce large societal changes, getting persons into office who live out environmental justice principles is absolutely vital to a viable future for the earth and all her inhabitants. Each year it becomes easier to donate, having developed deep confidence in the quality and care given to this important work by everyone involved. In fact, it is a joy to give to OLCV.
Our Sustainer Circle members are some of the biggest supporters of our work, who allow us to achieve big wins during the election seasons. A monthly donation to OLCV does not have to be a large amount to make a big impact on the future for Oregon. Will you help us smoothly sail into the November election by becoming a Sustainer Circle member today?
Sincerely,
Sarah Kline
