John,
Earlier this week, Gov. Greg Abbott took the stage at the Republican National Convention to peddle Texas' anti-immigration Operation Lone Star — raising his national profile, stoking racism and xenophobia, and riling up delegates as they held up signs with incendiary phrases like "MASS DEPORTATION NOW!".
I won't lie, John: scenes like this frighten me. We're living in an increasingly volatile time, where the far-right politicians running our state and those who support them are becoming increasingly more emboldened and extreme.
Much is uncertain, but I can promise you this: TFN will continue to be the leading grassroots organization fighting far-right extremism here in Texas. We've been at it for nearly 30 years, and we aren't going anywhere. If you believe in our work, can you renew your support of TFN with a donation to our Defend Democracy Fund? [[link removed]]

Your donation [[link removed]] to our Defend Democracy Fund will:
⭐ Enable our Texas Rising program to prepare young Texas leaders to become civically engaged, defend voting rights and turn out at the polls.
⭐ Support our Just Texas program’s efforts to organize progressive faith communities as an effective beacon to the divisive and often hateful rhetoric of the religious right on issues like reproductive freedom and LGBTQIA+ equality.
⭐ Help our political, communications, and grassroots organizing teams counter the far right’s extremism at the Capitol, the State Board of Education, and in local communities across the state.
If you want to make an even bigger impact, consider becoming a monthly, sustaining donor [[link removed]] to our Defend Democracy Fund. Recurring donations like these of any amount — $5, $25, $100 — help us not only respond quickly to urgent threats, but build capacity and make sustainable, long-term plans for the challenges that surely await us ahead.
Thank you, John, for your dedication and support as we work tirelessly to turn the tide here in Texas.
In gratitude,
