At their convention this week in Milwaukee, Republicans tried to slap a fresh coat of paint on a bunch of rotten wood.
Let’s cut through their spin and remember what the far right actually stands for (this is only the tip of the ugly iceberg):
- Passing a national abortion ban
- Giving massive tax breaks to billionaires and giant corporations
- Rolling back the progress we’ve made in the fight against climate change
- Cutting Social Security and Medicare
- Repealing the Affordable Care Act
- Letting Big Pharma rip off people who are trying to get their prescriptions filled
- Shielding wealthy tax cheats by slashing IRS enforcement resources
- Oh, and supporting Donald Trump as he says he’d be a dictator on Day 1
Here’s one more piece that Republicans went out of their way to celebrate this week, with big signs saying “Mass Deportation Now”: rounding up 11 million people at gunpoint and deporting them.
It’s sickening.
But none of that needs to happen. We have the power to stop the radical right’s appalling agenda in its tracks. If Democrats win this November, we can make positive change for our nation:
- Ensuring reproductive freedom nationwide
- Taxing billionaires and giant corporations to fund opportunity for all of our kids
- Making more progress in the fight against climate change
- Protecting and expanding Social Security
- Standing up for health care as a basic human right
- Continuing to bring down prescription drug costs
- Continuing to crack down on wealthy tax cheats
- Defending our democracy by protecting the right to vote and the right to have that vote counted
Along with passing an immigration package that includes border security and a path to citizenship for Dreamers and their families, for essential workers, for longtime residents, and for those who want to serve our country and for their families.
I’m running for re-election to get all this done and more — because working families need bold action now, and because we’ve got to stop MAGA Republicans’ outrageous plans from becoming devastating realities.
But I can’t do this alone. Add your name to say that you’re committed to stopping the GOP’s radical agenda in 2024, and that you’re ready to keep pushing for big, structural change in 2025 and beyond.
Thanks for being a part of this,
