New AI-powered vending machines that sell ammunition are open for business.

John—

New AI-powered vending machines that sell ammunition are open for business at grocery stores in Alabama, Oklahoma, and Texas, allowing people to buy ammo 24/7.

This is the next dystopian step in the gun industry's "guns everywhere" agenda: a world where you can pick up deadly ammunition with your milk and eggs.

Visit The Smoking Gun to learn more about the industry's role in our gun violence crisis.

Federal law prohibits certain people from purchasing ammunition, including underage buyers and those with felony convictions.

To comply with these regulations, American Rounds—the Texas-based company installing the vending machines—says it uses AI technology and "card scanning and facial recognition software to meticulously verify the identity and age of each buyer."

But cybersecurity experts warn that this technology could be exploited by hackers or those who wish to bypass the machine's security measures.

And in a country where guns are already the leading cause of death for kids, we can't further normalize the sale and promotion of these deadly products.

We're taking on the gun industry to prevent the gun violence that's devastating our communities. Explore our work to hold the gun industry accountable for its toxic "guns everywhere" practices.
