Happy Friday, folks. Before you log off for the weekend, I just wanted to say something about hope.

It’s been a very tough few weeks for our country. Americans feel more divided than ever, and those divisions have ripped out into the open in frightening ways. Political violence is never acceptable. It is poison to our democracy, and it’s rightfully made folks fearful about getting involved in the upcoming election — an election where so much is at stake.

In moments like these, it is tempting to give in to despair when we look at all the work we have ahead of us. The kind of despair that just makes you want to turn your head away, look away, and say “I’m out.”

But here’s what else I’ve learned: Stepping up and taking action breeds hope. And hope is much more powerful than fear.

There’s no better embodiment of hope than this grassroots team. In 2018, we flipped this seat blue for the first time in decades — winning a Democratic House majority and laying the groundwork for us to defeat Donald Trump in 2020.

We did it because of the passion of our grassroots activists and volunteers who got to work, day after day. They created real momentum and inspired me to keep pushing ahead every day. Maybe they inspired you to get involved too.

The beauty of our grassroots campaign is that there’s enough room on this team for everyone — and it’s never too late to make a difference.
