Yesterday Governor Stitt and Comanche Nation Chairman William Nelson and the Otoe-Missouria Tribe Chairman John Shotton signed new gaming compacts that create certainty for the Tribes and enable them to adapt to a changing industry, enhance revenue for the state of Oklahoma, and strengthen the State-Tribal relationship.

"This is a historic day for the State of Oklahoma and for our tribal partners who are here with me today. As an Oklahoman and a tribal citizen, it has been my heart’s desire to provide a level playing field for all 4 million Oklahomans and to ensure meaningful opportunities for all 38 federally recognized tribes that call our state home."

– Governor Kevin Stitt

Governor Stitt’s priority has been to create compact agreements that are mutually beneficial to each tribe and all Oklahomans. The new gaming compacts meet the Governor’s objective by:

  • creating certainty and clarity around the value of exclusivity;
  • establishing competitive, market fees that benefit both the Tribes and the State;
  • allowing Tribes to maximize new technology and enhancements utilized in gaming markets across the nation;
  • creating clear guidelines for complying with the compact and ensuring long-term respectful relationships between the State and the Tribes.

Governor Stitt is delivering on his campaign promise to end poorly-crafted State contracts of the past. He is bringing his CEO skills to State government by negotiating agreements that level the playing field and that benefit all 4 million Oklahomans and future generations.
