Assassination Attempt on President Trump

Last Saturday, I was horrified as I watched the events in Butler, Pennsylvania. I am so thankful that President Trump was spared by the grace of God. I join in mourning with our country, those who were harmed, and the family of Corey Compertore, who lost his life protecting his family. Following this tragedy, I hope to see a shift in political dialogue to fix, not fight. This is the time to unify as Americans, and political violence is decidedly un-American.
On Monday, I will be questioning the Director of the United States Secret Service, Kimberly Cheadle as she is set to testify before the House Committee on Oversight and Accountability. Director Cheadle needs to answer for this unacceptable failure. While I am grateful to the Secret Service agents that acted quickly after shots were fired, many questions remain about the lapse in security leading to an unprotected rooftop within 147 yards of President Trump. I look forward to hearing Director Cheadle’s testimony and working with my colleagues to ensure accountability.
