Hi John,
The assassination attempt against former President Trump this past weekend is another stark reminder that freedom is fragile and that we must do everything in our power to protect it. I’m sending prayers to the two individuals who were injured and wish them well as they continue to recover, and my heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of Corey Comperatore, who risked his life as a Fire Chief, and lost it as an American engaging in democracy. May we honor his memory and protect one another from future tragedies by rejecting political provocateurs who seek to divide us.
Democrats and Republicans can differ on policy, but we must come together and unify around our shared principles and values. Every elected official in America must condemn political violence unequivocally and start acting like people who are serious about preventing it. Let's move towards the future together and channel our shared love for America to protect the good it stands for with votes, not violence.
In that spirit, I invite you to attend our next Donuts with Dean gathering on July 26th, and if you won’t be in the DC area to share coffee and conversation with us, please use the resources below to ensure you’re ready to be a participant in our democratic process:
Donuts with Dean
By now you know that welcoming Minnesotans to Washington is one of my favorite parts of this job. Last month, I hosted a group of remarkable constituents at the Capitol for another “Donuts with Dean.” After great conversation and a tour of the Capitol, I leave our gatherings feeling proud to represent the most engaged community in the nation. If you have an upcoming trip to D.C. or are planning one, please join me for our next Donuts with Dean happening on July 26th!
