Like Donald Trump, J.D. Vance is a known election denier and climate skeptic. He has spent his short time in the U.S. Senate raking in Big Oil cash and voting to gut clean air and water protections. And that’s just the beginning!
Here’s what you need to know about Trump’s VP pick:
J.D. doubted whether human activity was driving climate change. He even claimed the environmental crisis was created to “justify Democratic donors.”
J.D. has repeatedly criticized the EPA and supported legislation to gut environmental regulations around clean air & water.
J.D. has cast doubt on the reliability of clean energy and criticized the Biden administration’s focus on creating good-paying clean energy jobs.
J.D. has called electric vehicles a “scam” and criticized their subsidies and tax credits.
J.D. supports fracking and increased production for oil & gas, expanding refinery capacity, and called for opening up American oil and gas energy reserves.
J.D. has even criticized solar energy despite holding up to $15,000 of stock from a solar technology company.
And you may be asking yourself why he’s so extreme on the environment? Well, J.D. Vance’s campaign and leadership PAC received over $380,000 from oil and gas-linked PACs - on top of over $16 million in Super PAC spending on his behalf.
