President's Message

The turnout at both In-Person and Virtual NASN2024 was genuinely inspiring. It was amazing to bring together so many school nurses and school health team members to learn, connect, and strengthen our collective efforts. I eagerly anticipate our next gathering in Austin, Texas, for NASN2025, June 26-29!

As we approach the 2024-25 school year, remember, through education, guidance, and resources, NASN is here to engage school nurses in current practice, pursue health, education, and social equity for students through shared leadership, and secure foundational school health evidence. The NASN School Nursing Practice Framework™ (Framework) focuses on nursing practice and protects it from outside interpretations that diminish or limit our school nursing roles. I look forward to "seeing" how you are using the Framework in your school nursing practice.

School Nurses Advocating for Students’ Preventative Healthcare

America's Dental Crisis Affects over 8 million children, and over 40 percent of children in America have tooth decay by the time they reach kindergarten. Summer is a great time to contact your state's elected delegation. Ask them to support legislation to address the dental crisis recently introduced by Senator Bernie Sanders (D-Vt.). "Dental care is health care, and health care must be considered a human right, not a privilege."
