It is important to me that I keep my supporters informed of the work I’m doing. Here are some updates on what I’ve been working on in Congress this month:

1. I announced that the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services has awarded Mercer University $387,616. Millions of Americans face debilitating medical issues, and our academic institutions like Mercer University conduct critical research that helps us understand, treat, and even prevent them. I will continue to work in Congress to support this life-changing work through grants like this.

2. I shared that Fort Valley State University is receiving a $3,700,656 grant from the Department of Health and Human Services through the Head Start Program. Data shows that investing in our community’s children at a young age supports greater success later in life. I will continue working to fully fund Head Start so that it can support organizations working throughout Middle and Southwest Georgia as well as across the country who are working hard to build a brighter future.

3. I also announced that Blue Bird Corporation is receiving a $79,728,146 grant from the U.S. Department of Energy’s Office of Manufacturing and Energy Supply Chains. This award was made possible through the Inflation Reduction Act, which I was proud to support and is making a real difference right here in Georgia.
