Dear John,

Care has always been a disability justice issue.

This month is Disability Pride Month: an opportunity to honor the diversity and resilience of the disability community – and to recognize how much farther our society still needs to go to support disabled people.

For too long, our elected leaders have ignored the supports and services that disabled people need to remain in our homes and communities – but that can change if we rise up together.

Take action now to fight for affordable aging and disability care by calling on Congress to invest in home- and community-based services. [[link removed]]

Most disabled people and older adults want to receive care in our own homes and communities – and that depends on access to home- and community-based care. But costs for care are spiraling out of control and most of us can’t afford it.

The average cost for aging and disability care at home is over $64,000 annually. Meanwhile, the direct care workers who make it possible receive just $15/hour for their life-saving services. Our care system is broken – and we need our elected leaders to take action to bring it into balance.

Quality care for aging and disabled people ensures they can live lives of their choosing, with dignity and independence. Investing in aging and disability care benefits us all – including our families and our economy.

In honor of Disability Pride Month, take action and call on your Congressmember to prioritize this issue and invest in home- and community-based services. [[link removed]]

If we want to create a future where we all thrive, we need our elected leaders to invest in home and community-based services. That starts with us taking action now.

With care,
