*Dear Neighbors,*

I hope you?ve had a great summer so far! This is my last update until after the election, based on election laws. While I won?t be able to send out these updates for a while, you can still follow me on my legislative Facebook [ [link removed] ] page.

Political Violence Must Be Condemned

I was shocked and saddened by the attempted assassination of former President Trump. This statement by the Minnesota Legislature?s bipartisan civility caucus leaders reflects my feelings:

"?As Co-Chairs of the Civility Caucus, we were horrified and saddened by the attempted assassination of former President Trump Saturday and the death of an innocent rally attendee. We are thankful that former President Trump was not seriously injured, and we are continuing to keep in our thoughts and prayers those who were critically wounded in the attack."

"Political violence is never acceptable and should be condemned by all who support democracy, which is predicated on freedom of assembly, free elections, the right to peaceful protest, and the rule of law. The strength of the American experiment is that we, the people, change our government leaders through free elections, not by force, coercion or corruption. We must all unite in our condemnation of political violence and our renewed commitment to working for change through our democratic institutions.?"

Mounds View Discharges Racial Covenants

I attended the Mounds View city council meeting where they moved [ [link removed] ] to require that all racist language in property titles be discharged before sale. Often referred to as racial covenants, these are clauses in property titles that prohibit the sale of that property to certain racial minorities. This was an incredibly inspiring meeting, with numerous community members speaking in favor of the council?s proposal. I'm so proud of this community in our district for taking this important step. These racist relics of our past have no place in our communities.?

You can learn more about the history of these covenants in Minnesota here [ [link removed] ], and find a full list of cities working to remove them here [ [link removed] ]. The other cities I represent ? Arden Hills, New Brighton, and Shoreview ? are all listed as participating. You can check to see if your property has a racial covenant:

"What an amazing meeting! I had a great time in attendance as I listened to so much inspiring testimony from our neighbors."

Share your Input on Prescription Drug Pricing

DFLers are interested in hearing from Minnesotans about how prescription drug prices impact their health care, what affordability concerns exist, and which drugs might benefit from pricing transparency. If you are interested in providing your insights, you can complete the Public Input on Prescription Drug Price Transparency in Minnesota form [ [link removed] ] to share your experiences and help guide the Minnesota Department of Health?s ongoing drug price transparency work.

July?s New Laws

On July 1, several new policies and investments we passed at the State Capitol this year took effect. These laws aim to grow the middle class, support our kids, protect our environment, expand and enhance access to our elections, and so much more. So many of these laws have been worked on for years, and I?m excited to see the positive impact they?ll have on Minnesota. You can read about these new laws and more in this summary of what was enacted on July 1 [ [link removed] ].

Accessibility for All at State Parks

Thanks to the dedicated disability justice organizers in our state, all-terrain track chairs are now available at 13 Minnesota State Parks. Track chairs are all-terrain, electric-powered chairs that can be used on designated trails within the park. These chairs can help visitors explore areas of the state parks in new ways, often on trails that are not suitable for regular wheelchairs.??

Track chairs are available year-round in some locations, and seasonally in others. To reserve a chair, call the park you plan to visit [ [link removed] ].
