John, there is one federal agency where you don’t have to imagine what it would look like under a second Trump term.
That’s because Trump’s appointment from his first term never left.
With the Republican National Convention underway this week, let’s refocus on Trump’s handpicked Postmaster General, and former RNC finance chairman, Louis DeJoy.
Postmaster General Louis DeJoy and the United States Postal Service are the perfect examples of one of our oldest, most reliable, most beloved institutions that has been let down by Trump’s cronyism and failed leadership.
It has continued from before the 2020 election for four years straight into last week when The Hill reported: “USPS stamp prices are about to go up (again) in 2024”
DeJoy has attempted to institute draconian cuts across the Postal Service while raising prices on consumers since he got there, and in 2020, it was very nearly disastrous for our democracy.
DeJoy led the effort to decommission mail sorting machines, remove ballot drop boxes, and close mail sorting facilities at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic.
His efforts forced tens of millions of Americans to consider whether they would need to put their own health, the health of their families, and their communities on the line to stand in line during a deadly pandemic — just to exercise their right to vote.
It wasn’t right. And DeJoy isn’t right to lead the United States Postal Service.
John, we need to replace Louis DeJoy before November. Add your name to my petition if you agree.
With love and gratitude,
Cory
P.S. — I did not even mention the FBI’s investigation of DeJoy for running an alleged GOP straw donor scheme, his prior work and family’s massive investments in a direct competitor of the USPS, the $120 million contract he awarded that company, his insistence on purchasing a new gas-powered vehicle fleet before Congress passed legislation to mandate electric trucks, or his disastrous 10-year plan for the Post Office. But if that is the convincing you need, then please sign my petition today.
