Nevada Littlewolf Speaks at U.S. Department of State International Visitor Leadership Program |
Nevada Littlewolf, Women Winning's Executive Director spoke at the U.S. Department of State International Visitor Leadership Program on July 11 in Saint Paul. She discussed women's political leadership and pro-choice advocacy in Minnesota and its connection to the global community. This Latin American delegation was made up of women and men representing Columbia, Ecuador, Peru, Chile, Mexico, Honduras, Paraguay, and the Ngabe, Mapuche, and Kayumbe Indigenous communities. These global leaders are working on the issues of women's rights, political leadership, Indigenous rights, LGBTQIA+ and gender expansive issues, positive masculinity, reparations, agronomy, economics, gender based violence, and human trafficking. Women Winning is proud to continue to partner with the U.S. Department of State each year in Minnesota.
"It was wonderful to speak with leaders in Latin America and connect them to Women Winning's powerful work here in Minnesota! These are global leaders who take on issues that Women Winning aligns with. It is exciting to be a part of a global movement!" |

Some Political Figures Who Condemned Saturday’s Violence Spoke From Experience
In a striking sign of how deep violence has become embedded in American politics, several of the political figures who condemned the shooting at Saturday night’s rally for former President Donald J. Trump had experienced political violence themselves. “Political violence is terrifying. I know,” Gabrielle Giffords said in a statement. Ms. Giffords, a former Democratic representative from Arizona, was shot in the head at a political event in 2011, where six people were killed. “I’m holding former President Trump, and all those affected by today’s indefensible act of violence in my heart.” |

The Only Part of Trump’s RNC Abortion Platform That Matters |
When a draft of the 2024 Republican Party platform began to circulate, headlines loudly declared that the GOP had moderated its stance on abortion. The truth is much different. The platform picks up on a strategy Donald Trump has used throughout the 2024 campaign: sending mixed messages that leave voters with no clear idea of what a second Trump presidency will entail—and that allow Trump to convince different constituencies that he will do what they want in the end. At the same time, the platform is studiously silent about the role of Trump judges, and obscures the reality that a federal judiciary transformed by Trump would likely move the country toward the recognition of personhood—and potential national abortion and in vitro fertilization bans—no matter how slowly the executive branch moves.

Pioneering Sex Expert, Educator Dr. Ruth Westheimer Dies at 96 |

She continued her work on TV with The Dr. Ruth Show, which by 1985 attracted 2 million viewers a week.
