J.D. Vance Promises to Renew America 'With God's Grace,' But Overlooks Life, Gender Extremism, in RNC Speech |
by Ben Johnson |
Republican vice presidential candidate Senator J.D. Vance (R-Ohio) promised he and President Donald Trump would remember the forgotten, faithful Americans in small towns and overlooked areas nationwide, ushering in a national renewal "by God's grace." Yet, some supporters noted with disappointment, his speech at the Republican National Convention Wednesday did not address the issues of abortion, transgender extremism, or parental rights. |

GOP Platform: Holes in the Roof, Spots on the Wall, and Cracks in the Foundation |
by Jared Bridges |
During election night coverage of the 2000 presidential race between George W. Bush and Albert Gore, Jr., CBS News's Dan Rather had a field day with figures of speech. Twenty-four years later, bad metaphors are still not hard to find. Take, for example, Eric Trump's characterization of the removal of planks on abortion and marriage from the GOP Platform in an interview with NBC News anchor Savannah Guthrie. |

California Enacts Ban on School Parental Notification Policies |
by Joshua Arnold |
California Governor Gavin Newsom (D) on Monday signed a bill (AB 1955) to keep parents in the dark when their children change their sexual orientation or gender identity at school. The bill responds directly to seven California school districts where parents successfully ran for school board and instituted parental notification policies. California Family Council President Jonathan Keller called the bill "a direct assault on the safety of children and the rights of their parents. ... Moms and dads have both a constitutional and divine mandate to guide and protect their kids, and AB 1955 egregiously violates this sacred trust." |

The very next day, Liberty Justice Center (LJC) filed a lawsuit on behalf of Chino Valley USD. Chino Valley USD school board president Sonja Shaw called the bill "an egregious attack on parents' God-given and constitutional rights." |

by Dan Hart |
Democratic Senator Bob Menendez (N.J.) was convicted Tuesday of all 16 criminal counts filed against him in federal court, including bribery, extortion, acting as a foreign agent for Egypt, and obstruction of justice. Despite the conviction, Senate Democrats so far seem unwilling to expel Menendez from the Senate, where they hold a slim 51-49 majority. |
