Over the past decade, the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) and its proxies have expanded their global media footprint, while using more sophisticated and coercive tactics to shape media narratives and suppress critical reporting. Given their proximity to China, countries in Asia face particularly intense and complex information influence efforts from Beijing. Yet even as the Chinese government's aggressiveness has increased so too have initiatives among journalists and civil society to detect, deflect, and build resilience to these campaigns. What form have these responses taken? What impact have they had? What can policymakers, donors, and others do to support and learn from these initiatives to enhance democratic resilience to authoritarian influence more broadly? Join us for a discussion with leading experts and frontline activists from across Asia
to explore these questions.
