Climate inaction has caused disproportionate harm to communities of color in the United States and across the globe. YouTube’s promotion and monetization of climate denial should be taken just as seriously as the platforming of white supremacist ideology and hate speech. To demonstrate a commitment to protecting the common good, YouTube must immediately remove videos with climate misinformation from its recommendation algorithms and stop allowing paid advertisements on videos with climate misinformation. We must combat misinformation now more than ever, and we need your help. | |
