John,

Pesticide giants have a dirty little secret. When they test their poisons,
they only look at the ‘active’ ingredient, ignoring a long list of what
they presented for decades as ‘inert’ chemicals. But studies have found
that mixing all of a pesticide’s ingredients together can make it over
1,000 times more toxic!

It’s a terrifying loophole. And the EU’s highest court just confirmed that
member states are breaking the law by letting companies like
Bayer-Monsanto get away with it. But we have a plan to force governments
to obey the law.

Here’s how: we’ll work with partners to file a string of lawsuits against
governments – from Belgium to Germany to France – to demand they uphold
the law and force pesticide giants to come clean about the actual risks of
their products.

John, can you chip in just the cost of a coffee to make it
happen?

It’s wild to think that pesticides are being sprayed all over our fields
and food when we haven’t even tested the product as it’s being sold. And a
major scientific study found that 24 of 36 ‘whole formulations’ had
greater toxicity than the active ingredient alone, with many of them
SEVERAL HUNDRED times more toxic!

It’s not supposed to work like this. After an active substance like
glyphosate is approved at EU-level, national governments are required to
do a comprehensive assessment of any glyphosate-based pesticides. But they
don’t. Thanks to pressure from pesticide giants, they simply say “active
ingredient is okay, so the cocktail of chemicals you’ve mixed it with for
your product is probably fine too!”

It’s outrageous. But the EU’s highest court gave us a way forward when it
said in a landmark case in April that member states are breaking EU law by
failing to properly carry out these assessments.

This is the moment we’ve been waiting for to force our governments to obey
the law by filing national cases across the EU. And when we win, pesticide
giants will FINALLY have to come clean about the risks of the actual
products they sell.

Lawsuits like this take time…and resources. Can you help take away
pesticide companies’ best kept secret?
