Observing Cortisol: How Unmanaged Levels Directly Affect Your Mental Health

If you are affected by chronic stress, you know how overwhelming it can be. While external stressors cannot always be changed on a dime, stress-reduction practices can be learned. Cortisol, known as the “fight or flight” hormone, is triggered by your stress responses, and is directly linked to your emotional and physical health. A gentle rise in cortisol is a normal physiological occurrence, especially first thing in the morning. But elevated cortisol levels occurring frequently are not. A host of resources are given to help you manage this issue.

The Changing Parameters of Vaccines: Navigating a Narrative that Protects Big Pharma

The definition of a vaccine in 2020 was different than today’s version. In 2020, the CDC’s explanation included, “to produce immunity to a disease; to protect against that disease.” Today’s translation, according to the CDC, is to “stimulate the body’s immune response against disease.” The subtle but substantial twist of meaning has played into the expanding field of “therapeutic” vaccines. Now, for acne, allergies, drug addiction, or particular cancers, you may be offered a vaccination. It is unknown if your vaccine will be followed by boosters, or for how long you’ll need to receive them.

During the first half of July 2024, AVFCA brought awareness to specific observance days by sharing our original stories that matched these themes:

Freedom From Fear of Speaking Day: ““Do This; Do That” or Else: Pressure From Family, Friends, and Society to Abide by Mainstream Culture”

Focus was on the mental health impacts of peer pressure, and specifically, the pressure to conform to mainstream narratives. Many people experienced blame, shame, and bullying during the “pandemic,” while being forced to “do the right thing.” If you can relate, or know someone who is struggling with these concerns, you’ll find this story valuable. http://tinyurl.com/dothisdothat

National Stay Out of the Sun Day: “An Exposé on Sunlight: Bathe, Avoid, or Find a Middle Ground?”

If sunbathing is your thing, or you’re worried about its impact on your health, this article shines a light on this topic. History on sunlight was covered, as was cautions to using sunscreens. Research on sun exposure to your skin was explored, and the link to vitamin D. http://tinyurl.com/avfca-sunlight

Our team also reads hundreds of articles each week, and those of interest are shared on our social media platforms.  However, once or twice a week, our team reads an article that is profound or shares a perspective that is new or from an expert that AVFCA feels should be highlighted.  These articles are shared on our Substack.
