Hey team,

You might remember that just five or six years ago, climate change was pretty damn low on the priority list for most voters and politicians.

And when politicians DID talk about climate change, they talked about things like melting glaciers and hungry polar bears and one-degree-warming predictions. And while those things are important, they’re not especially relevant in our day-to-day lives.

Then, around 2018, something changed: We saw record-breaking storms, floods, wildfires, and extreme weather. We started to break heat records every summer. Natural disaster insurance rates skyrocketed across the country. Politicians couldn’t just ignore it.

A new class of leaders began to talk about it, including me: I was one of the first elected officials to run on a climate-change platform.

Because I couldn’t continue to ignore the gigantic melting ice glacier in the room, this existential threat to humanity, I began to talk about it. I discussed what the consequences of inaction will be, and most importantly, how we can fight climate change in a way that makes us stronger.

I’m as committed as ever to talking about the climate crisis and fighting for climate action in Congress. But we still have a long ways to go, so I’m counting on your help to defend my seat in Congress – that's the only way I can keep up this important work. Please, will you pitch in $25 today?
