As you may remember, five years ago tonight at a Trump campaign rally in North Carolina, thousands of people erupted into a chant of "send her back" when the twice-impeached, convicted-felon former president attacked Ilhan by name.
As she said at the time, Ilhan has never been a stranger to this kind of bigoted, xenophobic, and racist hatred.
That's why as a young refugee arriving in the United States, as an organizer in her community in Minnesota, and as a member of the U.S. House of Representatives, she has committed herself and fought every day against the kind of rhetoric and abuse the right wing uses in seeking to divide us.
Ilhan never backed down from the right-wing's hateful attacks, and today, five years on, we are once again "sending her back" — to Congress.
After Trump's repeated threats made her one of the MAGA-right's top targets, our movement has stood by Ilhan time and time again. And tonight — especially tonight — she's counting on our support once more.
