We’re excited to share the next evolution of Black Lives Matter with you.
John,
Black Lives Matter has always been centered in community—because revolutions embrace community. Our new visual identity is centered around the joy in that community.
There is so much darkness, sadness, and heaviness in our world—and it makes sense. Every day we are bombarded with endless tragedy, inequality, violence, racism, and more.
That’s heavy, and it weighs on us.
But here’s the thing: we find resilience in one another—in our community— when everything around us seems to be failing.
Our new logo and website represent the heart and soul of our mission. The design reflects our commitment to honoring the past, embracing the present, and inspiring the future.
And this next step for Black Lives Matter is all about ensuring our community thrives.
Black people thriving feels like summer. Birds singing as the sun rises, kids playing outside, their laughter mingling with the scent of flowers in the air. Families gathered by the water, enjoying the sunlight as it dances on the waves. It is the joy of neighborhood block parties and cookouts, the taste of Grandma’s lemonade, and the rhythm of that song with a bounce. It is the heat we experience together and the breeze that hits our bodies at the perfect time. It is the sweat we wipe from our brows after the revolutionary fight and the promise that each new day brings.
That feeling of hope and joy is what we aim to uplift through our new visual identity.
“Never to forget where we came from and always praise the bridges that carried us over.”
— Fannie Lou Hamer
And in this moment, one of the most radical things we can do is center Black joy and community through this movement.
We must demand more than merely surviving—it’s time to thrive.
You’re a part of the fabric of this movement, John, and that means your opinion is everything as we move forward.
Our updated look is not just a visual change—it's a celebration of our ongoing journey and the powerful community we're building together.
From this day forward, we promise to evolve how we engage with you and our allies in this journey. Our communication must underscore the urgency of our cause and the full richness of Black joy, culture, and potential. We must paint a picture of what true liberation looks like—beyond survival, beyond resistance, towards a flourishing future where Black lives do more than matter—they thrive.
This is only the beginning, and there’s more to come.
Onwards,
Black Lives Matter
P.S: On our new site, we’ve laid out our vision for the future of Black Lives Matter and how our movement is evolving and reimagining liberation. Check it out here!
