Friend -
With ballots dropping this week, we’re finding pockets of blue in every corner of Washington as passionate Democrats step up to the plate to flip seats in former Republican strongholds.
In Southwest Washington, we have some exciting districts where strong Democratic candidates are working hard to make change.
In the 17th Legislative District, Emmy award-winning former sports producer and current mayor of White Salmon, Marla Keethler, is running in an open seat against an anti-choice Republican. As a small-town mayor and local leader, Marla knows what it takes to unite people and overcome partisan barriers to make real change for her community.
Meanwhile, her opponent is an anti-choice Republican with a record of opposing marriage equality, the morning-after pill, some forms of long-acting birth control, and common-sense gun legislation.
Also in Southwest Washington, public school teacher and Battle Ground City Council member Adrian Cortes is running against two extreme Republicans in the open 18th Legislative District. Cortes is deeply committed to the principles of public service and plans to emphasize responsible leadership in pursuit of prioritizing education, transportation, and public safety.
Helping Marla Keethler and Adrian Cortes flip their districts gets Senate Democrats one step closer to a supermajority–which means Washington is one step closer to enshrining abortion protections in our state constitution.
We know that winning these races won’t be easy, but with your support, we can make it happen.
Will you chip in today to help us flip these crucial seats in Southwest Washington? As people begin to vote across Washington, your donation is critical in turning these districts blue, changing the shape of the state legislature, and building a brighter tomorrow for all Washingtonians.
Thank you for your continued commitment to Senate Democrats.
