Give students great content and keep out online harassment

Dear John,

Do you remember February? Back then, over 50 million young people were enrolled in K-12 schools. Seemingly overnight, many of us became homeschool families or distance learning educators. The young people in our lives rely on us and the resources we provide — not just for lesson plans, but also for structure, safety and support while we rely on online platforms that so many of us were previously unfamiliar with.

Please join us today, Wednesday, April 22 for the latest webinar in our Fighting Hate from Home series: Educating — and protecting — young people during the pandemic.

Common Sense Media

We will be joined by Jim Steyer, founder and CEO of Common Sense Media, to learn the best ways to provide students with a strong and inclusive education, and at the same time protect them from online harassment while they are plugged in for so many hours.

Common Sense quickly launched their Wide Open School during this crisis, providing reliable resources ranging from creative exercises to interactive support for the emotional well-being of students. Their content providers are respected publishers including Sesame Street, Scholastic and Khan Academy, and their tech partners include Apple, Comcast and YouTube, among others.

If you are concerned about the educational well-being of students in this new environment, please join ADL’s Education team and Jim Steyer from Common Sense Media.
