LULAC Statement on Biden Administration’s New Actions to Expand Opportunities for
Latinos:
=================================================================================
On the Biden Administration’s new actions to expand opportunities for Latino
communities and ensure every family has a fair shot at the American Dream, LULAC
issued the following statement:
“LULAC applauds the Biden Administration for its continued commitment to
advancing opportunities for Latino families across the United States. This
morning’s announcements made by the Administration, particularly the
establishment of the White House Initiative on Advancing Educational Equity,
Excellence, and Economic Opportunity through Hispanic-Serving Institutions
(HSIs), are closely aligned with our mission and goals.
Hispanic-Serving Institutions are crucial pillars of higher education for Latino
students, serving over 4.7 million individuals nationwide. By creating a
dedicated Initiative and President’s Board of Advisors for HSIs, the
Administration is taking proactive steps to enhance these institutions'
capabilities, which will promote academic success and economic mobility for young
Latinos in our community.
Additionally, LULAC supports the Administration's efforts to reform our broken
immigration system, making it more equitable and just. Expanding access to legal
representation and facilitating pathways to legal status for eligible families
are critical in ensuring that Latino communities can navigate our complex
immigration processes with dignity and fairness.
LULAC continues to work to advance policies that promote equity, opportunity, and
justice for Latino communities. These actions not only uplift our communities but
also strengthen the fabric of our nation by ensuring every individual has the
opportunity to achieve the American dream. Together, we can build a more
inclusive and prosperous future for all Americans.”
