John —

Let's take a moment to talk about these FEC fundraising deadlines and the emails about them that have probably severely clogged your inbox.

Because of Michigan's early August primary, we have an FEC fundraising deadline tomorrow. That means we're once again legally required to report our numbers when it ends.

Those reports are also made public and I can tell you from experience that a lot of people are looking at them. The press looks, our opponents look, potential outside spending operations look...

They want to see the strength of our campaign financially. They want to see if we have small-dollar grassroots support that is sustainable in a way large donations are not. And critically, some of the big-money super PACs want to see if we're vulnerable to an attack we can't afford to respond to.

So these very real deadlines are important. They are not like the fake deadlines that you see from a lot of other campaigns (never ours). And it's why every donation made in response to emails like this one matters. That's why we ask so much.

Can I count on you to split a contribution of $10 (or more if you can) to my campaign and Adam Schiff before our pre-primary FEC fundraising deadline comes to a close? Believe me, I would not be asking if it were not so important.

If you've saved your payment information with ActBlue Express, your split donation between Adam Schiff and Elissa Slotkin will go through immediately:

Thank you in advance for contributing before this deadline. It means a lot to me personally.

Elissa
