Hurricane Beryl, the earliest Category 5 hurricane on record, has left a path of destruction across the Caribbean, Texas, and the East Coast. The storm left millions of families in Texas without power again, displacing communities and costing at least $1 billion in damages. These unnaturally strong storms are a stark reminder of the urgent need to act on climate change. We can create a different future and prevent storms from getting stronger and more deadly each year.

Coal poisons every part of our environment – the air we breathe, the water we drink, and the soil we grow our food in. There are still 146 coal plants remaining across the US – each of them still spewing toxic pollution into our atmosphere. The Sierra Club's Beyond Coal campaign has an ambitious goal to shut down every last dirty coal plant in the country – and to get there, we need to retire 15 more coal plants before the end of this year.
