Hi John,

Today, I extend my deepest condolences to the victims and families impacted by the terrible shooting on Saturday at former President Trump's rally in Pennsylvania. Out of respect for those impacted, we paused campaign activities for several days. My wife Phefelia and I pray that we will collectively choose to uplift our communities and have each other's backs instead of succumbing to extremism.

Let me be crystal clear about something: there is absolutely ZERO place in our politics for violence of any kind. We must all condemn this outrageous event and recommit ourselves to resolving our political differences peacefully through compromise and dialogue. We must be willing to listen to one another even if we have a difference of opinion. This is further true for the leaders we elect as leadership is incredibly powerful.

Together, we can work towards solving our nation’s most pressing challenges through good-faith negotiations and dialogue.

We must ALL come together to reject violence in our democracy.

Best,

Jonathan Nez
