The results of the Development Feasibility Analysis (DFA) are in!

Dear Interested Stakeholder,

We want to hear from you! The County of San Diego Planning & Development Services (PDS) invites you to attend two public virtual workshops to discuss the results of the Development Feasibility Analysis (DFA) project. Both workshops will cover the same content, offering the results of the study and next steps on this effort.

The DFA studies opportunities and barriers to housing development, like infrastructure or zoning. The final report will show where housing can be built in time to ease the housing crisis. It will outline actionable steps that could be taken to encourage development. To keep our study manageable, we have started with four communities of focus: Buena Creek, Valle de Oro/Casa de Oro, Lakeside, and Spring Valley.

The County met with residents, businesses, and community organizations to support technical analyses that explore the market and financial feasibility of housing development and existing infrastructure to support development.

The final report will be provided to the Board of Supervisors. Recommendations from the report can guide allocation of investments needed to support these areas as whole communities. Investments include placemaking strategies, zoning adjustments, and policy and process improvements.

Please attend and help verify the results and recommendations that will be passed on to the Board to guide their decision. We look forward to your valuable insights and contributions at these workshops. See you there!
