# [#]Political violence is never acceptable. I soundly reject the attempted assassination on Donald Trump and my thoughts are with the victims and their families from the senseless tragedy at the rally. I believe our disagreements and values must be fought at the ballot box.
But, there is too much at stake this November to stay silent. I will not stop calling out hypocrisy and lies when I see them.
Donald Trump is still a danger to our democracy and last night’s Republican National Convention showed us just that. While claiming to be calling for unity and lowering the temperature, instead we saw speaker after speaker persist in spreading conspiracy theorist propaganda and hateful rhetoric.
As MAGA extremists lined up to defend Trump, they all expressed their support for the harmful agenda that will take away Americans’ rights and benefit the ultra-rich.
Now is not the time to get complacent. It’s more important than ever that we protect our democracy and defeat Republicans this November. We have already seen the consequences of extremism and authoritarianism sweeping our country and with more extreme decisions like these happening daily, we have to fight for the future of our nation.
First Trump’s extremist Supreme Court went against 248 years of precedence in their immunity decision allowing the former president to be in a position no other American has been in. Then a Florida judge used that decision to drop Trump's classified files case going against 30 years of precedent.
Trump has made it clear he wants to be a dictator in his second term and has set up the courts to support him.
Trump also chose J.D. Vance as his running mate and his mission is clear – he openly supports Trump’s extreme plans, denies the results of the 2020 election and supported not certifying the election , and believes in a nationwide abortion ban with no exceptions. Vance supports Trump’s plan towards extension of tax cuts for the ultra-wealthy and raising taxes on the middle class . Vance postures as a moderate Republican but don’t let him fool you, he will enable Trump’s extremist MAGA agenda and carry out the policies from Project 2025 .
That’s why it’s never been more critical to elect Democrats, take back the House, and build a line of defense against whatever comes our way in November. With our fundamental rights on the line, now is the time to stand up and get ready for the fight ahead.
