Last week, the House Appropriations Committee approved the remaining six spending bills for Fiscal Year 2025. I proudly supported these conservative measures, and I look forward to considering each of them on the House floor in the coming weeks.
Here are a few highlights from the six appropriations bills:Â
Commerce, Justice, Science, and Related Agencies
- Includes my amendment to reduce Attorney General Garland’s salary to $1 until all requested records — including audio files — related to Special Counsel Hur’s investigation of President Biden are provided to Congress
- Includes my amendment to defund the ATF’s ability to continue establishing a digital gun registry
- Defunds efforts to federalize state and local policing practices
- Holds the FBI accountable for targeting everyday Americans by cutting its budget and mandating critical reforms
- Increases oversight of DOJ grant programs and funds
Energy and Water Development and Related Agencies
- Includes my measure to protect and preserve the Ninth District’s Lake Lanier and Buford Dam from any misguided efforts by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to rename these civil works projects
- Democrats attempted to strip this language but we successfully defeated their amendment
- Invests in the modernization of the nuclear weapons stockpile and infrastructure
- Rejects the Biden Administration’s wasteful spending on climate change programsÂ
- Blocks President Biden’s harmful pause on new LNG exports
- Safeguards energy and technology assets from being used by foreign adversaries
Interior, Environment, and Related Agencies
- Blocks President Biden’s radical electric vehicle mandate
- Prohibits funds to cancel oil and gas leases in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge (ANWR) and National Petroleum Reserve in Alaska
- Expands access to critical minerals by blocking certain Bureau of Land Management withdrawals in Minnesota and reinstating mineral leases in the Superior National Forest
- Defunds for the American Climate Corps, Climate Justice Alliance, and ecogrief counseling
- Blocks restrictions on hunting, fishing, and recreational shooting on federal lands
Labor, Health and Human Services, Education, and Related Agencies
- Includes my amendment to prevent unaccompanied alien children from being placed with illegal alien sponsors
- Maintains the longstanding Hyde Amendment, ensuring taxpayer dollars do not fund the evils of abortion
- Defunds transgender surgeries
- Blocks President Biden’s unconstitutional student loan bailout
- Maintains the longstanding Dickey Amendment, ensuring that federal funds cannot be used to advocate or promote gun control
Transportation, Housing and Urban Development, and Related Agencies
- Includes my amendment to block social cost of carbon considerations in rulemaking, guidance, or agency actions
- Prohibits HUD funds from going to sanctuary cities or jurisdictions
- Prevents the DOT and HUD from implementing the Biden Administration’s woke executive orders on equity or implementing equity action plans
- Defunds President Biden’s radical greenhouse gas emissions rule
- Prohibits mask mandates on public transportationÂ
Agriculture, Rural Development, Food and Drug Administration
- Invests in agriculture research, rural broadband, and animal and plant health programs
- Reins in harmful regulations that dictate how poultry and livestock producers raise and market their animals
- Provides sufficient funds to ensure the safety of food, drugs, and medical devices
- Maintains Buy American provisions that maximize the federal government’s use of services, goods, products, and materials produced and offered in the United States
- Addresses foreign ownership of U.S. agricultural land by improving the tracking system of foreign-owned land
