John,

Last week, we reached out to you to ask how you’d been staying in touch with friends and family during this period of isolation. Here is some of what we heard:

I'm staying connected mostly through e-mail and a bit via Twitter. I have a friend who has children and grandchildren and is using Zoom to connect with them and even play games with them in real-time.

Playing Yahtzee over FaceTime with our daughter and 7-year-old grandson.

A group of us who dined together every month have begun having a happy hour via zoom on Fridays. On Sunday we participate in our Bible study class, again through zoom.

My yoga studio has classes online. Participants can tune in early and stay for a few minutes after class to see and visit with friends.

One of my friends has used her Zoom account to host 'knowledge parties.' Using a spreadsheet, people can sign up to give a 2-minute presentation on a topic they have expertise about -- for instance, I am presenting on volunteering for campaigns!

Our family, spread across the Richmond area (Mechanicsville, Brandermill, and Lakeside) and in Cleveland and Houston, met on Easter by Zoom for a lovely 30-minute visit.

About once a week my neighbor joins me (from at least 6 feet away) to walk my dogs around the neighborhood. I have met more neighbors in the past month than in the 10 years I have lived here. Always from at least 6 feet away, though.

John, staying connected with one another is crucial. That’s why our campaign is training volunteers, making check-in calls to volunteers, and sending emails like this one.

Things may not return to “normal life” for some time, but we know that we have a big election coming up no matter what.

This is a campaign powered by grassroots donations, not corporate PAC money. If you’re able, can you make a small contribution to our grassroots campaign today?
