The Census, which is critical for funding and representation for our communities, is happening now and we need your voice.

More than ever we’re learning that this is the time for us to lift our voices up for each other. To stand up for what our communities deserve and to go all in for the wellbeing and safety of all Californians.

This is why the Census is so crucial for our communities and it’s why we want to hear from you today.

We’re lifting up the stories of Californians across social media in what we’re calling the #CensusChallenge, can you take a few minutes to share why the Census is important to you, your family, and your community?

To share your story with us simply record a short video on why the Census is important to you and tag us on instagram @wercalifornia and use the hashtag #CensusChallenge. You can also reply directly to this email with your story. See below for a sample script.

The Census has an enormous impact in our daily lives because it determines funding for schools, hospitals, housing, roads, and small businesses. It is also used to determine fair representation in Congress. We want to make sure all Californians, whether Black or white, Asian or Latinx, citizen or noncitizen — complete the Census.

Though we all might be separated right now - we want to see all the creativity and resiliency you are bringing to this moment as Californians. Complete the Census and take the #CensusChallenge today!
