In just a moment, I am going to ask you to make a contribution directly to Senator Sherrod Brown's re-election campaign in Ohio. Please give me a chance to explain why this request — especially today — is so important.

Here is the truth:

No matter what happens in the presidential race, it is critical for Democrats hold onto the Senate. And there is no doing that if Sherrod Brown loses in Ohio.

Trump's selection of J.D. Vance, Ohio's Republican Senator, makes that more difficult. It puts a spotlight on Ohio. It will motivate Ohio Republicans to vote.

It also means the race will attract even more outside spending trying to defeat Sherrod Brown.

That will happen because Republicans know what we know: if Sherrod Brown goes down, Republicans will take control of the Senate.

So this is an all-hands-on deck moment for Democrats who know the importance of this moment, and the importance of holding the Senate.

Sherrod Brown relies on a large number of individual donations to fund his campaign. So in light of J.D. Vance's selection, I am asking you today:
