Dear John,

When a family member goes to prison, it can have drastic effects on the rest of the family—especially children. Angel Tree®, a Prison Fellowship® program, reaches out to the children of prisoners and their families with the love of Christ.

Every year, volunteers from thousands of churches nationwide deliver Christmas gifts and a personal message of love to children on behalf of incarcerated parents—children like Trinity.

Without Angel Tree, last Christmas would have looked much different for 6-year-old Trinity. Her dad, Michael, is incarcerated almost four hours away from her home.

Both Trinity and her mom, Miranda, were in tears when Angel Tree volunteers showed up with gifts from Daddy, with a personal message of love, and a Bible—Trinity’s very first one.

“Nothing like that has ever happened for her like that, in her whole life,” says Miranda. “She was like, ‘Oh, my daddy got me presents!’ … Christmas can be tough, but it actually felt like her daddy was a part of it last year. And it’s just an amazing feeling that so many people, who don’t even know you, care so much.”

Miranda also says she took Trinity to visit Michael a few weeks ago, and the little girl suggested they all hold hands to pray. Michael was moved to tears when he heard his daughter pray, “God, I know my daddy is not always there, but I know his love is always there.”

The only thing better than reading an Angel Tree story is being a part of one. Today, you can help give a child like Trinity the gift of connection—with her parent behind bars and with her loving Heavenly Father.

Angel Tree simply won’t happen without caring volunteers from every community doing their part to come alongside children and families carrying the weight of a loved one’s incarceration.

We need your help to strengthen and restore the precious bonds between parents and their children, so please find out more today!
