Texas Music Office's Music Educational & Community Grant Program Application Deadline August 31, 2024 [ [link removed] ]

The Texas Music Office (TMO) administers the Music Educational and Community Program, also known as the "License Plate Grant,? which provides grants to benefit music-related educational and community programs sponsored by 501(c)(3) nonprofits based in Texas.

Funding for the TMO grants comes from the sale of Texas Music specialty license plates [ [link removed] ], where $22 from the $30 fee for each custom plate goes directly into the TMO?s Music Educational and Community Program.?

*The TMO will be accepting applications for grant projects in the 2024 Fiscal Year through *"*_August 31, 2024 at 5:00PM CST. _*"

*Only 501(c)(3) nonprofits based in Texas may apply. The eligibility criteria for the nonprofit, includes, but is not limited to, the following:*


* Be a nonprofit organized and based in Texas;
* Be in good standing with the State of Texas; and
* Owe no delinquent taxes to a taxing unit of Texas.

Texas Music Incubator Rebate Program Application Window

for Fiscal Year 2024 Opens September 1, 2024

The Texas Music Incubator Rebate (TMIR) Program [ [link removed] ] is the historic tax rebate program for independent Texas music venues and festivals and is?administered by the Texas Music Office (TMO). The TMIR Program was established by Senate Bill 609 and signed into law by Governor Abbott following the 87th Legislative Session. With $20.2 million in funding approved for the biennium in the 88th Legislative Session, the TMIR Program will provide qualifying music venues and festival promoters in Texas a full or partial rebate of the mixed beverage gross receipts taxes or sales taxes attributable to the sale of beer and wine in the prior fiscal year to help support the live music industry in communities across the state. Applications for year two open on *September 1, 2024 at 9AM CST*.?

Gini Mascorro to Lead the Music Friendly Texas Certified Community Program

?

Welcome to Gini Mascorro, the new Community Relations & Outreach Specialist for the Office of the Governor?s Texas Music Office. A Fort Worth native, Gini comes from the world of public radio programming and podcast production. She served as Music Director for the North Texas non-commercial music discovery station KXT 91.7 from 2009-2022. She facilitates the Music Friendly Texas (MFT) Community onboarding process for potential cities establishing partnerships and certification with the TMO. Her role includes organizing the TMO?s annual Texas Sounds & Cities conference in conjunction with the host city and Music Friendly Texas community liaisons. In addition to that and compiling data for the TMO?s annual economic impact report, she collaborates with team members to ensure the Texas Music Industry Directory stays current.

The week of June 2nd, Texas Music Office Director Chip Adams and Marketing & Communications Specialist Jenny Perkins were official speakers at the National Independent Venue Association's (NIVA) [ [link removed] ] 2024 Conference in New Orleans.

Director Adams spoke on the panel titled "Amplifying Voices: Advocating for State Funding for Music Venues", and MarCom Specialist Perkins spoke on the panel titled "Why Independent Stages Matter ? Leveraging NIVA?s Reach to Drive Audiences to Indie Venues, Festivals, and Promoters, "with NIVA's Executive Director Stephen Parker.

On June 20, the Texas Music Office (TMO) was proud to help bring The Mechanical Licensing Collective's (The MLC) [ [link removed] ] educational tour to Antone's Nightclub [ [link removed] ] in Austin, along with speakers from Broadcast Music, Inc. (BMI) [ [link removed] ] Texas and TuneCore [ [link removed] ], who shared their knowledge with the local community on collecting music royalties, publishing, licensing, and more.

The event was co-hosted in part by Austin Texas Musicians [ [link removed] ] and supported by the Austin Chapter of Women in Music [ [link removed] ].

*June 11 *- The Texas Music Office (TMO), the *City of The Colony* [ [link removed] ], and The Colony Convention and Visitors Bureau co-hosted an in-person and virtual Music Friendly Texas Community workshop on Tuesday, June 11.?

*June 7* - The *City of Mineral Wells* [ [link removed] ] became the *63rd* Music Friendly Texas Certified Community to receive the designation from the Texas Music Office (TMO) after completing the multi-step certification process.?

Music Friendly Texas Certified Community Program Holds Central Texas Regional Office Meeting in Austin

?

The Texas Music Office?s (TMO) Music Friendly Texas (MFT) [ [link removed] ] Program (the first of its kind in the nation since 2016) has successfully grown so much that we?ve now been able to establish a Regional Office Program.

The team at the City of Austin's Music Office [ [link removed] ] put together a day of programming to host all of our Central Texas Liaisons who traveled in from all over the region, including Harker Heights, Waco, Kerrville, San Marcos, New Braunfels, San Antonio, and more to learn, grow, develop, and network with their peers. TMO Director Chip Adams and Marketing & Communications Specialist Jenny Perkins were in attendance.
