For nearly 250 years, the United States Postal Service has connected Americans to each other and the institutions that make our country function. Today, we must ensure that the USPS remains adequately funded and an essential part of our country's economy.

Unfortunately, Donald Trump has rejected giving aid to the USPS -- while demanding bailouts for the industries he has financial interests in. We must all speak out to make clear what the priorities of our leaders should be at this defining moment for our country.

USPS's work matters in districts like NY-24. Many of our communities lack easy access to internet service, and rely heavily on mail to stay connected. And at a time when it's dangerous for our most vulnerable populations to go outside, the postal service allows them to obtain essential items such as medicine.

Postal workers--many of whom are veterans and people of color--are braving the front lines of the COVID-19 crisis, and we must support them and ensure that they have the protective gear and resources needed to continue their essential services for our country.
