J.D. Vance has officially been chosen as Donald Trump’s running mate.

We’ve been talking a lot about out-of-control rhetoric recently, and I fully agree we need to tone it down. And J.D. Vance has had the strongest political rhetoric of anyone.

Vance has used incredibly damaging language to describe the former President. He called Trump an "idiot" and said Trump was "reprehensible." He described Donald as “cultural heroin” and a “cynical asshole.”

Using that kind of extreme language about our Republican nominee could be incredibly dangerous. America deserves better than politicians who insult instead of engaging in substantive debate.

Vance even went so far as to call Trump “America’s Hitler.” Rhetoric like that is never okay.

We can do better than insults and extreme comparisons. I really hope J.D. Vance will tone down his rhetoric so we can have a healthier democracy.
