Republicans Demand US Rep. Crockett Resign Over Legislation to Revoke Trump’s Security
- Republicans in the Texas Legislature are calling on Democrat U.S. Rep. Jasmine Crockett of Dallas to resign after she co-sponsored a bill to strip former President Donald Trump of Secret Service protection. Brandon Waltens has the details.
- The letter is signed by 27 current and incoming lawmakers and takes aim at Crockett for sponsoring H.R. 2081, which would terminate the presidential protection detail "for any person who is sentenced for a federal or state offense that is punishable by at least one year in prison."
- "You have forfeited any moral authority to represent the State of Texas," the letter concludes.
Texans to Nominate Donald Trump as Republican National Convention Kicks Off
- Hundreds of Texans have made their way to Milwaukee as the Republican National Convention kicks off. The convention’s top order of business? Officially nominating Donald Trump as the presidential nominee, a task that has taken on deeper significance after the assassination attempt in Pennsylvania over the weekend that killed one attendee and left others, including the former president, wounded.
- Texas’ delegation includes many current and incoming state lawmakers, such as State Rep. Brian Harrison, who told Texas Scorecard, "I’m proud of my service in the Trump administration and honored to have the opportunity to formally nominate him to once again lead our great nation as President. We must make America great again."
- "After the loss of American patriot Corey Comperatore during the failed assassination attempt of President Trump, the entire tone and energy of the Republican National Convention has changed. Every person here feels the weight of this moment. Now is the time for Republicans to unite and stand in solidarity with the only candidate that can bring our nation back from the brink of Democrat destruction." - Incoming lawmaker Brent Money.
- The Republican National Convention runs from July 15-18.
Human Smugglers Steal License Plates From Citizens to Avoid Capture
- Sabinal Police Chief Jesus "Chuy" Reyes has outlined a new strategy used by human smugglers to avoid detection: using stolen license plates of similar vehicles. Will Biagini has the report.
- The plates are often removed from the cars of local residents that match those used in smuggling efforts. This mitigates automatic suspicion of out-of-state license plates.
While multiple individuals from Sabinal have reported that their license plates were stolen, Chief Reyes alluded to the fact that the problem might be much bigger.
"We might still have vehicles here that people don’t know of," he said. "They never check their license plates."
Dallas City Manager Travels to Leftist Event on Taxpayers’ Dime
- Dallas Interim City Manager Kimberly Tolbert spent $3,000 on a four-day trip to attend a "progressive" forum. Emily Medeiros has the story.
- Tolbert spent $3,000 of Dallas taxpayer monies for a four-day trip to the National Forum of Black Public Administrators in April. According to the NFBPA’s website, the organization is the "principal and most progressive organization dedicated to the advancement of black public leadership in local and state governments."
- The 2024 Dallas Community Survey revealed that the top five problems facing city residents are homelessness, crime, drugs, infrastructure/streets, and aggressive solicitation/panhandling. However, it seems as though Tolbert’s travels can rarely be connected to addressing the city’s problems.

State Sen. Hall Seeks to Curb Influence of International Organizations in Texas
- Republican State Sen. Bob Hall of Edgewood is calling for new legislation to safeguard the sovereignty of Texas from the overreaching influence of international organizations such as the World Economic Forum, the World Health Organization, and the United Nations. Debra McClure has the report.
- Describing the growing influence of such global entities as a "great danger," Hall stated, "Texas cannot afford to be on the defense with this type of overreach, and therefore must act as quickly as possible in securing the state’s autonomy to be just that; power vested only in those who care for the best interests of Texas."
- Louisiana recently enacted legislation limiting the jurisdiction of international organizations in the state, effectively making Louisiana a sanctuary state from regulations or mandates of any kind from these entities. Hall believes Texas should do the same.
