Former President and 2024 GOP presidential candidate Donald Trump announced U.S. Sen. J.D. Vance (R-Ohio) as his vice-presidential running mate on Monday.
The former president revealed the announcement on his Truth Social account during the first day of the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
“After lengthy deliberation and thought, and considering the tremendous talents of many others, I have decided that the person best suited to assume the position of Vice President of the United States is Senator J.D. Vance of the Great State of Ohio,” Trump wrote.
“J.D. honorably served our Country in the Marine Corps, graduated from Ohio State University in two years, Summa Cum Laude, and is a Yale Law School Graduate, where he was Editor of The Yale Law Journal, and President of the Yale Law Veterans Association. J.D.’s book, “Hillbilly Elegy,” became a Major Best Seller and Movie, as it championed the hardworking men and women of our Country. J.D. has had a very successful business career in Technology and Finance, and now, during the Campaign, will be strongly focused on the people he fought so brilliantly for, the American Workers and Farmers in Pennsylvania, Michigan, Wisconsin, Ohio, Minnesota, and far beyond,” he added.
Vance has long been a proponent of pro-family policies. He is also scheduled as a keynote speaker for a policy conference to be hosted by Family Policy Alliance's sister organization later this month in Washington, D.C.
During his Senate campaign in 2022, Vance stated he is, “100 percent pro-life,” and said, “abortion has turned our society into a place where we see children as an inconvenience to be thrown away rather than a blessing to be nurtured.”
While we are encouraged by the selection of Senator Vance, as Christians, we know that our hope is not based on any political figure, party or political movement. That is why we are unwavering and steadfast in our pro-life, pro-family stand no matter what happens on the national stage or who is elected.
For that reason, we are looking to engage Christian voters to turn out and vote in numbers like we have never seen before...and not just this year...but every year.
