Hi John, it’s Josh Stein, Democratic nominee for governor in North Carolina. As you read this, my opponent Mark Robinson just stepped off the Republican National Convention stage.
I’m not exaggerating when I say we’re in a fight for North Carolina’s future.
Inside Elections and Cook Political Report have both rated my race a toss-up and the latest polls show it’s neck and neck. If you’re ready to chip in to win elections here and across the country, will you please rush $3 before midnight and have your donation split between my campaign and the Democratic Governors Association?
But if you need to learn more about the threat my extremist opponent, Mark Robinson, poses to the state of North Carolina, then please read on.
John, for the next four days, Mark Robinson and the national Republicans who view our state as their top opportunity to pick up a governor’s office are busy spouting vitriol and hate at the Republican National Convention – and they’ve been raising millions of dollars to pour into their attacks.
But I’m no stranger to facing tough odds.
Throughout my life, I have dedicated myself to serving the people of North Carolina – as a consumer protection lawyer, legislator, and Attorney General. In each of these roles, I have taken on the big fights and won – standing up for our most fundamental freedoms and defending the interests of North Carolinians at every turn.
Now, I’m ready to do the same as Governor. In contrast, Mark Robinson’s vision for the future is more about division and conspiracy theories than helping North Carolinians succeed.
He’s called public educators “wicked,” has boasted that he has “AR-15s in case the government gets too big for its britches,” and has said time and time again that he wants a total ban on abortion with no exceptions for rape or incest or even to protect the life of the mother. Two weeks ago, he even said “some folks need killing.”
It’s no surprise that when I recently spoke with Lawrence O’Donnell on MSNBC he called Mark Robinson the “craziest and most dangerous Republican running for governor this year.”
But this race is too close to call. Mark Robinson and I are neck and neck in the polls, so the outcome will likely be decided on the smallest of margins.
And the stakes could not be higher: our freedoms are on the line.
So please, John, will you rush $3 or more before midnight to win this critical race and to defeat Republicans across the country, to be split between my campaign and the Democratic Governors Association?
If you've saved payment information with ActBlue Express, your split donation between DGA and Josh Stein will go through immediately.
Let’s do this,
Josh Stein
